4th Annual Artist Trading Card event on Zoom

Check out the video below!

$45 Discover Artist Trading Cards! Artists have been trading art for many years- but in 1997 a Swiss artist M. Vanci Stirnemann began what he called “Collaborative Cultural Performance”. He created many small pieces and held trading sessions for artists to exchange cards. ATC exchanges have really evolved over the years…

The previous exchanges had a great turnout from all over the world from beginner to professional artists with diverse art backgrounds. I’m so happy to be scheduling the 4th annual ATC Exchange and hope you will join us.

The workshop will cover a little history of Artist Trading Cards as well as some different approaches to making them. I’ll show and demonstrate my creative process and favorite products.

I demonstrate something different every year and for 2023, I’m going to show I use acrylic pastes to create 3-D shapes and textured art. I’ll also talk about some of my handmade papers and how I recycle even the tiniest scrap.

How does it work? if there are 20 people in the class, we’ll each make 20+ small pieces. I’ll give everyone a few weeks to finish them up and get them in the mail to me. Once they all arrive- I’ll divide them up and send all of you a little masterpiece from each of your classmates- including me. I’ve participated in several trades in person and through the mail and it’s really fun to get a package with 20 little paintings or collages!

Q: Can I just come to the workshop and not do the art exchange?

A: Yes, just let me know at the end of the workshop if you will not be participating in the trade. I give a final headcount to the artists so they know how many pieces to make.

You can pick one thing to make 20 times or make them all different. I’ll have a ton of examples from my own collection of “trades” from all over the world. I imagine this to be a fun, relaxed class to be remembered.

Materials list:

You’ll need all of your favorite art supplies- whatever you have and usually use. There are so many ways to make small pieces for this trade.

**I’ll let everyone know the approximate headcount for the class a couple days before so you know if you need to cut or buy more cards to make.

**When you mail your ATC’s to me, please also send a $5 bill to cover shipping and handling if you are not local to me. If you have any questions just shoot me an email susan.rossiter@yahoo.com

**Please note there can be unexpected mail delays out of anyones control but it’ll be worth the wait!

You can pick one thing to make 20 times or make them all different. I’ll have a ton of examples from my own collection of “trades” from all over the world. I imagine this to be a fun, relaxed class to be remembered.

Materials list:

You’ll need all of your favorite art supplies- whatever you have and at least 20 blank ATC’s. 2 1/2”X3 1/2 inches. You can cut them out of 150 or 300lb watercolor paperor whatever you have that is heavy enough to support your preferred art supplies. There’s only one rule- no mod podge unless you put all of your ATC’s in indivdual plastic sleeves. Gel Medium is OK just be sure it’s thoroughly dried before you mail them or they’ll all stick together. I’ll be using various heavy white papers and BLICK has assortments already cut for you in packs of 10 and 12 for under $3. They also have little envelopes and plastic sleeves.

Use your imagination- the sky is the limit!

**I’ll let everyone know the approximate headcount for the class a couple days before so you know if you need to cut or buy more cards to make.

**When you mail your ATC’s to me, please also send a $5 bill to cover shipping and handling when I send the ATC’s back to you. If you have any questions just shoot me an email susan.rossiter@yahoo.com

Friendsgiving Social/Open Studio on Zoom

Registration is free- I’ll send out a reminder and the link closer to the event.

What are you doing the day after Turkey Day? I’m opening up my studio on Zoom for a couple hours of creating, chatting, and snacking with my artist friends. This is a free, informal event for all of the people on my mailing list.

I know there are a lot of people spending holidays alone and a lot of people who are with loved ones who could use some time with creatives :) So I hope to see you there. It doesn’t cost you anything but you will need to register to get the link emailed to you.

Last year was a lot of fun with friends from all over the country- I’m looking forward to seeing you again!

Explore some unlikely color combinations that make gorgeous pinks. In this evening workshop, we’ll work with a limited color palette to make several colors that will work harmoniously together. We’ll also use a no-fail process for abstract compositions. This is a perfect brain free evening class to relax and enjoy. I’ll bring the music!
